How to deal with clothes moths in the house?
Step 1: Comprehensive inspection
Inspect all fabrics throughout the house. Open all wardrobes, storage boxes, and drawers; check wool, silk, blankets, and other animal fiber items. Also check carpet edges, under sofa cushions, and under bed corners — places that are easily overlooked.
Step 2: Sort and treat clothing
Wash all washable wool and silk clothing (preferably in water above 60°C) and dry-clean or tumble dry. For non-washable items, seal in bags and freeze for at least one week. For lightly infested items, brush off cocoons with a soft brush before treatment.
Step 3: Environmental treatment
After emptying wardrobes and storage boxes, vacuum thoroughly, especially crevices. Then spray dinotefuran-containing household insecticide on cabinet cracks, corners, and baseboards. Vacuum carpets and along walls; spray if necessary.
Step 4: Ongoing prevention
After treatment, keep wardrobes tidy, not too full, and well-ventilated. Recheck after a month; if there are still signs of infestation, treat again. For long-term prevention, practice sealed storage and control environmental humidity. Don't panic if you find occasional clothes moths — prompt treatment keeps them under control. If there is a large outbreak (multiple items damaged), it is recommended to do a full-house inspection and reapply after 2 weeks.
