How to use bifenthrin to control millipedes?
Bifenthrin is very effective against millipedes because they crawl close to the ground, making contact action highly efficient.
Why bifenthrin is suitable for millipedes
- Millipedes crawl with their abdomens in extensive contact with the ground.
- Bifenthrin applied to surfaces forms a film; millipedes absorb it through their abdominal body wall upon contact.
- Contact killing is very effective; they die within hours.
- Bifenthrin is not repellent, so millipedes do not avoid it.
Application areas
- Yard corners and under steps—where millipedes hide during the day.
- Doorways and window sills—entry routes.
- Around floor drains—to prevent entry from pipes.
- Spray a band around the foundation to form a protective barrier.
- Also spray indoor corners and floor cracks.
Application method
- Hold nozzle 20-30 cm from the surface; spray evenly until slightly damp.
- Reapply after rain to maintain film effectiveness.
- For large infestations, spray directly on millipedes (contact kills); or sweep away most first to avoid rotting bodies.
- Residual effect lasts about 2-4 weeks.
- Apply early in spring (March-April) when millipedes first emerge to control the annual population.
Precautions
- Wear gloves and a mask during application; avoid inhalation.
- Keep pets and children away until the spray is dry.
- Do not spray on vegetables or edible plants.
